Sunday, December 5th, 2010It is safe to say that motorcycle batteries do not require too much attention and are usually quite hassle free but this does not mean there are not things you should and should not be doing when it comes to the care of them. The Dos
If I start with the dos and go onto the donts you will not be doing things that should not be done because you would have only done the dos!
Well one of the very first thing you need to make sure you are doing is to ensure you buy the right battery, getting something like leisure batteriesor mobility batteries because these will not do the bike any good at all. you really do need to make sure that you get help with this if you do not then you are in trouble!
You need to follow the instructions that come with the battery, follow them word for word. you need to be checking the battery on regular occasions, even more if it is hot or cold. If you are using battery acid you have to be careful, it is very corrosive and flammable, you need to do this.
The Don'ts
The big thing to do is to not add new battery acid to your battery or disconnect cables when the engine is still running, you could get seriously injured. You might want to consider not adding water from the tap because it contains minerals and it is going to contaminate the battery acid, this of course is again not good.
So there you go, a few tips for you on looking after your motorcycle batteries, it is also key to make sure you do not throw away your hold batteries, they can all be recycled!
Of course what you do in the end is up to you so make sure you make the right decision!
