Cities and Competitiveness
In the modern world, people and money are mobile. For cities and companies who invest, it means that competition. Create your city and the best place to live, work, study or visit has been given more emphasis on urban design and regeneration.
An important factor in the quality of public space is the street furniture. The plateau humble confine light or security are elements of a system the public is more directly linked. These are items that are in most human scale.
Traditionally, the furniture has been the responsibility of local councils. Often, this means that the cost and durability have were the factors most important concepts. More recently, however, furniture Urban eventually be seen as an opportunity to create better quality public spaces and offer a pleasant and positive experience for users in cities.
Pleasure Principle
To understand why is, and how to achieve it we need to see furniture as more than a means to ensure basic needs. Traditionally, street furniture provided a positive experience by eliminating a negative. For example, a box gives you waste likely to be made, while a bank will relax a while.
However, in the context of competitive cities that have the impetus to go beyond the basic needs a user. To develop a competitive advantage we need to provide more enjoyable experiences in a user experience that help create positive associations with a particular location.
Ensure greater use through positive experiences
To do we need to understand how positive experiences can be described and how these could be related to furniture. Lionel Tiger in his book "The pursuit of pleasure," describes four categories ample pleasure. They are summarized below.
The first is the pleasure that can arise from the physical aspect of an object. It is a style of objects, materials and quality. In the furniture on the street has increased both in design and quality materials, including the use of materials such as stainless steel and granite. This is important in the development of brand associations for businesses that invest in cities. Attracting retail businesses with an image of a certain area becomes easier when you can relate to the quality of the furniture urban public spaces.
The second type of pleasure that can be identified is one that can result from relationships with others. This is a very important aspect of zstreet furniture design. It is closely related to the principles of urban anthropology and how to think and act in a space urban. A simple example is when you look at a particular demographic group of teenagers. Teens often spend long periods in the urban environment and are often in larger groups than normal. This means that traditional bank three seats could not meet their needs. Provide other means to be in an area that also meets their needs sale could create a positive experience of the place for this group
The third area is the growing popularity of people make decisions based on ethical beliefs. This offers an opportunity to develop products that offer experiences positive due to ideological connections. Prominent at this time are environmental issues, urban furniture products that are aligned with these beliefs, such the solar illumination, representing the cycle of raising the profile of this mode of transport, or be produced from recycled materials creates associations positive for some users.
The last method of creating a positive experience is the pleasure that can lead to stimulate thought or emotion. The average person in the street has a lot on his mind and draw their own thoughts requires something unusual or rare. There are a number of projects artistic furniture used to achieve this. For example, a project by the art group Greybeard Videolink still live between two banks which allows users communicate with people sitting in seats in different cities.
Using these methods as a philosophy of design furniture city can contribute to developing a competitive advantage for a development project. This can increase the use of a certain area for a population Target and the economic benefits and growth potential of a given area.

The Arrogance Cycle (Hardcover) $36.71 What is the arrogance cycle? We’ve just lived through it. As market bubbles build, our confidence level rises (dis)proportionately. Everyone wants in on the action. We want to believe Wall Street, and once we do, the inevitable happens. Like Dr. Frankenstein breathing life into inanimate flesh, investment professionals sought ever more novel ways to create wealth. The only problem was that it was all artificial. In this book, Michael Farr examines the forces at work on individuals and markets and explains in clear, concise, layman’s terms how we got to where we are. Karr focuses on individual factors—such as rampant consumerism, a sense of entitlement, narcissism, resentment toward the upper class—that combined to create the perfect economic storm. By consulting with leading psychologists and relaying first-hand experience with investment clients, he provides a case study of the arrogant investor. In reviewing failed enterprises like WorldCom, Adelphia, Enron, AIG, Lehman Brothers, and Bear Sterns, as well as the illegal activities of Bernie Madoff and others through the lens of arrogance, the book sheds light on those disasters and offers a means to detect the insidious presence of arrogance so that in the future we can contain the damage before it spreads. |
