Road Rage Accidents - Driver Beware

road rage, we've all heard the expression. Some of us, if we are quite honest, I might even be guilty ourselves. Horn, making gestures or cutting in front of another driver. All are considered examples road rage. Road rage is rarely News. In a recent incident in California, a man was beaten with a piece of metal tubes after a confrontation. The Transportation Department estimates that nationally, about 66% of all traffic accidents are at least partially caused by aggressive driving.

But how to recognize road rage and what you can do to prevent it? The term road rage has been invented by the media, but the doctors have actually another name for the condition. Intermittent Explosive Disorder, and is officially known, affects about 16 million people in the U.S. on a regular basis.

Symptoms: Anger and impatience - often appear in childhood, and many patients have problems with drugs or alcohol or other psychological problems that can cause rabies manner. If you are the kind anyone who could benefit from ongoing management of anger. You may be prone to road rage.

Men are also more likely to suffer from road rage than women and to actively seek a confrontation with another driver. Some studies show that American drivers are for rabies driving is a bigger problem than drunk driving.

A large study conducted recently by Autovantage, a car club based in Connecticut, to determine which parts of the country who have suffered from road rage. Perhaps not surprisingly, larger cities have the most road rage: Miami (which was the highest) in New York, Boston, Washington DC and Los Angeles.

But surprisingly, places with fewer incidents of road rage are all cities quite large too. The survey revealed that less aggressive drivers can be found on the roads of Dallas, St. Louis, Seattle, Pittsburgh and Portland, Oregon. So how can deal with road rage, for others and yourself?

First, try to drive safely and courteously to yourself. Avoid speeding, changing lanes at the last moment and always use the indicator if necessary. Do not block the passing lane. It's actually a law in 20 states, but must be second nature anyway.

Reduce your own luck road rage forever leaving enough time to reach your destination. Check local traffic conditions whenever possible. Increased congestion traffic, which is outside our control, is a contributing factor to many incidents of road rage.

Do not drive not so angry or depressed. Never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Some studies show that nearly 80% of motorists are angry while driving. However, even workers who are normally friendly may succumb to road rage, if anything to trigger.

Try to use your horn sparingly while driving. It should be used to communicate and not to "punish". If you use the beam, You must stop when there is no traffic. Do not listen to music at a volume that could interfere with other drivers. Keep other activities to a minimum while driving, such as cell phone use, reading a map or eating and drinking.

If another driver is driving aggressive, trying to get out of the way - reducing the speed if necessary. If someone behind you is faster, leaving your see if you can safely. Do not be stubborn and make a point to stay where is. Try to avoid eye contact with an aggressive driver.

Efforts are being made on a larger scale, too. Several state agencies of law enforcement working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to establish a number to call to report aggressive drivers. In the meantime, we recommend that you report any incident of road rage to the local police.

Many other states have programs ways to solve the problem. These measures include the implementation of existing legislation more strictly, legislative and public information campaigns. Campaigns Press and included television infomercials, brochures and posters of roads.

But ultimately depends on us all to help prevent road rage. Recognize the signs in others and ourselves, can significantly reduce traffic accidents and anger may help save life.
