The hows and whys of DIY green cleaning

We've all been hearing about the damage to our bodies and our environment in many chemicals and not environmentally friendly, household detergents and cleaners.

Laundry Detergent ingredients are the key toxic
In the website of the Department of Environmental Protection (EPA), in his 1999 article 'Key features of Laundry detergents "warns us that the main ingredients in most laundry detergents (with names as safe as, dyes, bleaches, surfactants, builders) are considered toxic to humans and animals in a number of problems serious such as the evolution of dangerous gases, destroying ecosystems and pollute and cause cancer.

I do not know about you, but in my family busy teenagers and two parents working, we do a lot of clothes. Often, these same chemicals and worse, are in our cleaning products, disinfectants and detergents for dishwashers. That is why they choose green cleaning products.

PIRES OFFENDERS
Two of the worst toxins are phenol and formaldehyde in many disinfectants and cleaning. (Formaldehyde, the same product chemical used to preserve corpses.) According to the Defense Council Natural Resources (NRDC), an environmental action group, formaldehyde is used in ... certain disinfectants, antibacterial soaps and even cosmetics. Formaldehyde has been classified as carcinogenic probable human EPA .... The main exposure to formaldehyde has been linked to respiratory allergies in children. "

According to the Department of Labor Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines for states that phenol Phenol is a carcinogen, but it does cause cancer in rats for a short period of time! Needless to say I am livid that sounds like a "carcinogen" if you ask me! I am taking steps to clean up (excuse the pun sorry), my house all these poisons.

A Green Education
I found a nice reward green-cleaning sites and blogs filled with information and advice, soulmates myself grow together and encourage each other in the "Green-ness". Sometimes there is conflicting information around, or worse "rumors" and controversy occasionally, there were even some "green" real manufacturers in their labeling be truthful!

I'm Research to be on top of all this information as a wife, mother, housewife, and environmentalist. I like being "in the loop" for my own life and I want to share with you - to do my part to help "green" industrial cleaning products. Our vote counts and every time you or I buy, we speak.

There are some great green products out there on the market, and now even found its way onto the grocery Integrate. I am the reviewed one by one, trying to give the good, the bad and the dirt "on them.

My Review of natural cleaning products blog
The most important rule I learned is: Read the labels!
Reading between the lines and Meet-the-terminology, so you can know exactly what they mean. For example: "flavor" usually refers to a synthetic perfume, but "essential oil" true thing! O "natural" can refer to natural disasters, but toxic "ingredients. I started this blog to my own research as concerned, eco-conscious consumer.

Sometimes I do my own laundry - and wanted to "verify my own recipe." PS I am not a supermom, I found that taking several hours to several months to revive the recipe was very easy.

My Own DIY Laundry Detergent
I combined some of the recipes are simple line that I like simple. Then, outside the supermarket, I went to buy a house, only a few "normal" to mix with my laundry detergent. This that was on my list? White vinegar, baking soda, borax, soda, and good old soap:

Laundry Detergent

6 cups baking soda
3 cups of soda *
3 cups of borax **
6 bars of soap (any kind, shredded up)

* Washing soda is sodium carbonate, a close cousin to baking soda, and are not edible or interchangeable, but in an all-natural way to increase the detergent power cleaning. Helping ground in dirt, stains and grease.
** The detergent Borax is also a natural "reinforcement.

I chop the soap a large knife and the grill of my blender. You can use any soap, I try to use only all the natives. They are a little more expensive, but this last order for 3 months.

I measure all ingredients and add all in a reusable plastic container with a lid large. For a normal load of clothes I use 1 / 4 cup of detergent.

Also, for those who like their fragrances with detergents, you can add a drip (30-40 drops) of essential oil of your choice for the detergent into the mixing phase. Some essential oils were known to be as natural disinfectants, such as, tea tree, lavender and thyme.

To clarify: I use 1 / 2 cup white vinegar in a blue "Downy Ball" during the rinse cycle of "softening." He also adds some reserves to help disinfect rinse remaining dirt or residual soap and many germs. You can also add white vinegar into the container rinse the washer.

Heinz Company, spokesman Michael Mullen, has referred to studies showing that right 5% solution of vinegar, so that you can buy at the supermarket, which kills 99% bacteria, 82% of mold and 80% of germs (virus) in 10 minutes.

This combination of natural products of all detergents and cleaning natural vinegar rinse worked hard on our clothing for the active family of four. I love the smell of cleanliness and satisfaction of making green!
