Be safe riding a scooter or Vespa with these Safety Tips

If you are considering a scooter or a Vespa as the primary means of transportation to save money, There are some things you should know. Mopeds and scooters are not the same, and Vespa scooters have different regulations for motor vehicles and security problems his cousin's largest moped. Scooters are cheap and can save big money on gas and insurance. Scooters are easy to maintain and depreciate slowly. However, because of its relatively small size, scooters are difficult to be observed by drivers of motor vehicles, especially in traffic and the most common injuries are broken arms and legs. The following tips will help you get "scooter"

Use bright or reflective clothing for maximum visibility at night.

Using a point, ANSI or Snell approved helmet that is designed with a tough outer layer and a restraint system to protect the head and brain in a variety of impacts. In 2006, 41% of those killed in crashes were not wearing helmets.

If you drive at night, make sure you have a beacon of safety for your scooter.

Ride only on hard surfaces without problems. Motor scooters are not designed for use in off-road conditions. Be careful when you drive over obstacles.

Avoid gravel roads or uneven.

Do not allow scooters to be used in the rain, or be driven through puddles water. The motor, batteries and controls can be damaged if exposed to water.

The scooter must be used by one person at a time. Do not take other people or objects while driving. Do not place additional burdens on towing the trailer bike for nothing.

Scooters must have a seat for road use.

Park so they do not block sidewalks, handicap access and buildings or emergency units

Check all joints, hinges and quick releases to ensure the bike is properly assembled. Stop using the scooter immediately if any joint, hinge, or quick release becomes loose.

Maintain the proper air pressure in tires. Low air pressure causes the extra rolling friction, reduces ground clearance, and wears the tires fast.

If you tap the lever handle handlebar brake, stop using the bike to lock the lever.
